Wild Turkey

Hunter's Safety Classes

The OSC provides Hunter's Safety training and certification for area youth and adults who wish to obtain hunting licenses through the Michigan DNR. Several club members are certified instructors who donate their time for this important training. The club provides it's facilities, firearms, and underwrites the cost of ammunition and supplies. This is generally an annual event.

Local Library Grants

The club encourages young people to experience and respect the great outdoors. Therefore, the club annually supports library grants to all of our local schools to procure conservation related materials - generally the libraries selections include numerous titles involving wildlife conservation and responsible hunting practices. Likewise, the club underwrites the cost of providing a conservation magazine, TRAX - to middle school students in several of our local districts as well as our parochial schools. Please see other donation programs under the Scholarship, Grant, and Donation Program page.

Shooting Target

Shooting Programs - Including Youth

OSC sponsors a junior pistol team which allows interested area youth to larn competitive shooting skills. Club members coach the team on a volunteer basis and the club underwrites the costs (ammo, supplies, travel) of participating. The OSC team has competed at national matches at Camp Perry for many years, usually placing very well against much better funded competitors. The club's modest indoor range and rifle range are home field for the OSC Junior team. OSC also sponsors a junior shooting camp to introduce youth to safe participation in the various shooting disciplines.

Forest

Public Safety and Law Enforcement

OSC is pleased to offer the use of it's range facilities to local, state, and federal agencies for training and qualification events. Police departments, sheriff's departments, and national forest and national park agencies have all used OSC ranges recently.
